VM & Display Show 2017

On a sunny spring afternoon I headed over to The Business Design centre in Islington to visit the VM & Display Show. This is the only UK exhibition dedicated to VM products and services and is now in its 27th year!

It’s a great exhibition to gain inspiration and an insight in to the latest things happening in the world of VM. Below are a few things that I found interesting.

Textures
A lot of companies had introduced different textures onto their exhibition stands. Blacks Visual had used suspending hanging coloured poles to create an intimate exhibition area and VMG had brought the outdoors indoors with real grass on their stand. However, someone that really stood out for me was a company called Atom, who specialise in manufacturing props. Their stand featured various props that they had made for clients which were set against a wave textured backdrop. This was made using polystyrene, that was cut to shape and painted black with a wood veneer laid across the top. I was really impressed by the simple yet stunning visual effect this method produced.

Mannequins
This year the mannequins were more paired back than in previous years- A lot of the poses were simple and relaxed.

Print & Display
There were some great print and display companies at the exhibition with stands that were really eye catching. Graphica Display had installed a full size ping pong table which you were invited to play! Their print techniques were then displayed on ping pong paddles along the back of the stand.

Props
County Display had a giant yellow sofa as part of their stand and I didn’t miss out on getting the obligatory photo to tweet!

I had a great time talking to all the exhibitors and learning about the different businesses… only another year to wait until the next one!
