Out and about – London Windows
Spring is nearly here! At least we hope it is and with this in mind we’ve been out in central London taking in the new season window displays.
With a mix of styles, it was nice to see some fully Spring related displays that were colourful, bright and eye catching.
Key categories stood out as:-
Nature with plant based themes focused around floral, safari, jungle and the rain forest.
Fashion Trend with Fashion week, Black & White, Spring denim & colour block featuring heavily.
The City with abstract, architecture and travel standing out
Live plants were used in Bershka’s window ‘Back to Nature’ theme.
A dense lush rain forest with trailing orchids dominated Ralph Lauren with just one or two mannequins as a stand out feature in most of the windows.
Anthropologie’s ‘in the Greenhouse’ theme using recycled paper and quilling techniques to hand make all the stunning flowers in their displays is creative and beautiful.
Great story telling from NY fashion brand Coach. Their collaboration with British Designer Stuart Vevers resulted in a heavily floral display complete with vintage cars, mannequins and props recreating the feel of a New Mexico road trip, the inspiration behind the collection.
Fashion week was a big feature for some retailers with windows dedicated to promoting their collections on the high street alongside the cat walk.
Travel featured in a few of the window displays. Karl Lagerfeld used simple suspended props to create a plane with seated mannequins and cases.
We love the Diesel & Dior windows and how these brands have created really positive and ‘of the moment’ campaigns to speak out politically and strive to make a difference in today’s world. Selfridges window displays promote their Material World campaign showcasing the products available to purchase in store that are responsibly and ethically produced to support sustainability.
Interesting creative props, plinths and mannequins with inspiration taken from architecture and raw materials like marble and stone.
