Linn SIS - Harrods

Life with Linn: a life enriched

How one man's desire for better sound became a forty year quest to solve one of engineering's most complex challenges: the precise reproduction of music.

Linn’s aim is simple. They want to bring you closer to the music you love, to feel every note, to experience your music with a clarity and power unlike anything you’ve ever heard.

Their philosophy is simple too. They don’t make anything unless it’s better than what’s available elsewhere. For them, “good enough” isn’t good enough.

Every single Linn product is still made by hand just outside Glasgow and signed by the person who builds it.

We were thrilled to work with Linn to design a unique space for them within Harrods. They were confident we understood the brand, its heritage and  philosophy and would be the right partner to bring this to life.

With experience of successfully designing and installing retail spaces in Harrods for Reebok, Orlebar Brown and Derek Rose we are familiar with the store, its staff and the processes involved.

Similar to other high end audio brands LINN products are sold through independent specialist audio retailers who can deliver excellent customer service through their highly trained teams.  This dedicated brand space in Harrods was to be a new venture and a great opportunity for them to speak directly with their target consumers.

Through our process of research, ideas generation, mood boards and initial sketches we produced a design built around a sensory customer journey.  The vibrant bespoke prints that clad the speakers attract the customer to the space where they can explore the range and exquisite craftmanship of the sound systems, turntables and headphones.  With Linn’s history rooted in mechanical engineering, the wall mounted light box contains an industrial landscape view with a crane as a symbol of Glasgow’s engineering heritage.

The displays are elevated by the colour palette of the wall and floor fixtures, which ensures that the product remains the focus.  The final destination is the sleek Audio room where you experience first hand the quality of sound that these superior products produce.

The design was finalised presented to and approved by Harrods. We liaised directly with Harrods project managers to gain design and material approvals and finally with an approved contractor to ensure the installation process went smoothly on site.

This beautiful space can be seen and heard on the new 5th floor Technology department in the iconic Knightsbridge store which will officially launch in August.
